Mailing List Options

This screen controls how your mailing list will behave.

General

Hide Your List

First and foremost, hiding your list does not render the list unattainable from the outisde world for subscriptions/unsubscriptions.

When checked, your mailing list will have the following behavior:

This option is handy if you have a test list, or, an internal list that you would not like to be made public. With the correct information, people can still subscribe and unsubscribe from your list.

Close Your List

When checked, subscription will be disallowed by everyone except the list owner, by using the list control panel. This is handy if you have an internal mailing list or a mailing list that is associated with another service and has a "members only" policy.

There is currently no way to disallow unsubscriptions.

Lookup Hostnames When Validating Email Addresses. (mx lookup)

When checked, subscription and unsubscriptions requests will be checked firstly to see if the domain the email address originates from is actually in existance. This option can bring down the number of invalid subsciption/unsubscription requests if people type in valid-in-format but invalid in reality email addresses to be subscribed.

Subscription Confirmations

Send Subscription Confirmation Emails (Double Opt-In)

Double Opt-In confirmation is a system of confirming a subscription request by emailing a would-be subscriber a final confirmation to subscribe to a list. In Dada Mail, the final confirmation is a special URL that, when clicked, will subscribe the email address.

This may seem like an unnecessary step, but it is almost essential that you use this option. Briefly, this option stops:

Receive Subscription/Unsubscription Notices

When checked, a brief email will be sent to the list owner stating the time, IP of the susbcriber, the status of the subscription and the email address of the sub/unsubscription.

Send Subscription/Unsubscription Successful Emails

When checked, the subscriber will receive a very thourough email detailing their subscription/unsubscription.

URL Redirects

If requests for subscription/unsubscriptions went through without a hitch, Dada Mail will show a screen (an HTML page, generated dynamically), telling a subscriber that the request was successful. If you want have Dada Mail redirect to a different page, you may enter it in the appropriate text field. Make sure to use a complete URL, starting with http://
